[brutal boston]
the [brutal boston] series features photographs of boston city hall, the christian science plaza, and harvard university's carpenter center for the visual arts
the city's relationship towards its concrete structures is one of casualness. boston's brutalism isn't as revered as much as that of other cities, such as london's, yet the likes of city hall and the christian science plaza are nearly impossible to ignore - either by size, design, or both. this creates a relationship between citizens and concrete that sees the locals accept and understand the role of brutalism in their cityscape and lets the buildings bask in their brutal glory
it's the careful balance between the architecture, its acknowledgement, as well as its appreciation, that makes boston brutalism a curious case for the study of concrete
